Dear lynn,

After her cat fell ill due to toxic fire-retardants in her sofa, Arlene Blum took on the chemical industry and forced companies to their rid consumer products of dangerous toxins.

Wilma Melville, and her Labrador, Murphy, developed a program to train abandoned dogs to help firefighters for disaster response efforts.

Tim Will used his business knowledge to create a network of farmers and chefs in North Carolina, helping the farmers' livelihoods and improving access to healthy, local food for the nearby communities.

What do Arlene, Wilma and Tim all have in common? They're all winners of the Purpose Prize. Each year, the Purpose Prize awards up to $100,000 each to 10 people over 60 who have used their encore career to make a difference on a range of issues, from promoting animal welfare and protecting the environment to helping refugees and disadvantaged teens.

Do you know someone over 60 doing inspirational work? Help support their efforts: Nominate him or her by March 5 to win up to $100,000 from the Purpose Prize. http://www.encore.org/prize

Thanks for taking action!
